Interview with Robin of Waters Edge Salon and Spa.
Robin graduated in Cosmetology in 2005 and graduated as an Esthetician n 2006.
Tell us about your career journey Robin.
I started my career in the beauty industry first as a hair stylist but after 3 years as an apprentice, i decided to go back to school and become an esthetician. I have worked in many spas in New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Ontario. I now focus mainly on skincare and take as many classes as I can. I am always on the lookout for what’s new.
What I love most about this industry is helping fix people’s insecurities. Whether it’s someone who is embarrassed by their dry rough hands or someone struggling with acne, I want to do everything I can to make them look and feel better.
What tip would you offer your clientele?
Most people do not exfoliate their skin enough. The signs of aging can be slowed down by regular exfoliation. This increases the skins cell turn over rate getting rid of dry dead skin and improving the overall texture. Exfoliating can lighten pigmentation spots and fade scarring. The key is knowing what type of exfoliator is best for you. There are daily scrubs, weekly masks and overnight retinol creams. Each work differently to deliver targeted results for different skin types.
Currently my go to product has been the Resurfacing Cleanser (available at Waters Edge Salon and Spa).
I have dry, dull skin and with 2 kids, 2 dogs, a cat, a husband and a full-time job, I don’t have a lot of time for skincare. This product cleanses my skin to remove impurities and left-over makeup residue and the lactic acid gently exfoliates and brightens. I love anything that saves me time and gives great results.
