Mental illness issues like anxiety and depression can come from many different sources, including diet and exercise. In order to try and become free of these issues, major lifestyle changes may be necessary. In other cases, however, the true culprit is underlying subconscious programming.

In order to help with this specific causation, The Rock Spa offers clients brainwave entrainment, otherwise known as audio-visual brainwave entrainment.

Understanding Audio-Visual Brainwave Entrainment

Brainwave entrainment is the brain’s ability to synchronize its brainwave frequencies naturally once introduced to external stimuli. These stimuli are typically tactile, auditory or visual. The machines we utilize at The Rock Spa use both auditory and visual stimulation in order to reprogram these brainwaves. We use both CES (Cranial Electrical Stimulation) and Audio/Visual Brainwave Entrainment (AVE) light/sound devices as a form of brain entrainment therapy.

These machines use pulsating rhythms of light and sound in order to alter brainwave frequencies. This allows for the brainwaves to synch up more easily, and all of this is done naturally without foreign chemical introduction.

The most important part of this therapy is rhythm. The stimuli being used, no matter what they are, must be applied at periodic intervals that repeat. These rhythms are meant to mimic electrical cycles within the brain. The rhythm and mimicry are what retrain the brainwaves to be more in sync with one another.

If this sounds a little complicated, you may not realize you’re already aware of a common, natural form of entrainment. Despite being on the negative spectrum, epilepsy is a type of brainwave entrainment. When exposed to flashing lights, the brain responds in a specific way, usually in the form of a seizure. This shows the power that these rhythmic patterns can have on the brain.

Don’t let this negative example scare you. Brainwave entrainment is used as a mind training device for positive purposes. For instance, positive ways in which entrainment can be used include repetitive trance, meditation and hypnotism. The pulsating sounds, lights or physical sensations push the brain into a state of being, and in these instances that state is wholly positive and healthy.

What can Brainwave Entrainment do for Me?

Brainwave entrainment is mainly used for mental issues and isn’t advised for ailments that are directly physical. Instead, this form of therapy helps to relieve physical symptoms that come from mental strain.

For instance, brainwave entrainment can help to balance out emotions within a person who is depressed. This can help to relieve tension within their body, but the entrainment didn’t do this directly. It alleviated the depression which was the cause of the tension, meaning brainwave entrainment can help to relieve a mental issue and its comorbid symptoms.

Another common reason for utilizing a brainwave entrainment treatment is stress. Issues like stress, anxiety and fatigue can all be a result of out of sync neuro patterns. The entrainment helps to align these brainwaves and push the brain into a more positive, soothed state of being.

Other issues that can be helped via brainwave entrainment include emotional trauma, social anxiety, intimacy issues, insomnia and emotional imbalances. All of these issues deal with how our brain is wired, and thus we can retrain the brain via brainwave entrainment.
