The resurgence of turntables is undeniable! What is it about the turntable that creates this deeper sense of connection with the artist and the music?!
For the ninth consecutive year vinyl have been on the rise and for the first time in years, vinyl sales overtook digital downloads! Sales of vinyl in 2016 reached a 25-year high as consumers young and old have once again embraced physical formats of music.
So what is it about turntables and records that are bringing people back in?
The first argument always is the fidelity, romanticism and ritualistic nature of the experience. The next reason, playing records is a physical act. You are forced to interact. People love flipping through album covers. The connection that an album creates between you and an artists - these intangible things are a few reasons that vinyl is back!
The ability to own something that you can hold in your hands, which nowadays is rare. It's also, that the older generation are going back to vinyl but also that younger generations are discovering it.
Regardless of the reason, the fact of the matter is people are getting back into their turntables and their vinyl collection!
One of the cool things about a turntable is the amount of moving parts - and parts that can be adjusted and upgraded. Whether it be getting a new needle, cartridge, phono preamp, cleaning kits, platters or belts, for those who like to fiddle, you can always make changes.
