Summer Driving? Don't forget the @officialRainX

Long drives, country roads, mountain getaways... Here is a list that might help you have a bit more peace of mind on your summer drives.

Hydrate Your Car

It sounds simple.  We hydrate ourselves during the summer due to the heat, let's not forget to top up all fluids and bring extra, fluids where needed.

Engine Oil Matters

With the climates of multiple seasons, it's possible that the oil needed in the summer is slightly different to that required in the winter. With your car running hotter, make sure you not only top up your oil, but determine the type of oil best for your car.

Other Fluids

Make sure to also check on transmission fluids, brake fluids, power steering fluids, coolants and windshield washer fluids.  Check for levels and make sure no leaks. Cars warning signals and alert systems have improved significantly over the years, but it never hurts before a long road trip to get your car prepared for the drive.

Heavy Rains

Summer months often have periods of excessive unexpected rain.  One option for you to have a clear view is to consider a product like rain-x. In sudden summer driving storms, it can improve visibility significantly.

Taking Care Of You

Let's face it, long drives are some of the greatest of childhood memories.  Playing the license plate game or some other game in the back seat of the car, went by faster with great snacks and hydration. Don't forget to double check your safety equipment and even go as far to put a case of water and other forms of high-calorie snacks in the back of your vehicle.

Other Things To Check

Before any long trip in addition to fluids, remember to check the following:

  • Check for adequate pressure in all tires.
  • Check your wiper blades are working properly.
  • Make sure your battery is in great shape for summer.
  • Check brake pads for wear and tear.  Mountain drives definitely can be harder on the car.
  • Make sure all lights, and emergency flashers work in case of night time stopping on the side of the road.  A flash light also is a good idea
