Cambridge Arts Festival

Cambridge Arts Festival is celebrating 22 years in 2017. The Festival began in September 1995 and has been a free annual event held in Cambridge every summer. Our goal is to provide a space for local emerging and established visual artists, musicians, and performers to share their talents with Cambridge and the surrounding communities.

CAF’s Art Market lines over two blocks on Dickson Street where artists display their work in the mediums of painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, mixed media, street art, and more. In 2016 we welcomed over 50 artists and merchandise and food vendors. This number is expected to increase in 2017.

Cambridge Mayor's Celebration of the Arts

Each year, for one evening in June, the Cambridge Mayor's Celebration of the Arts presents to the community a variety of works by Cambridge and Cambridge-connected artists. The exhibition focuses on juried works in the visual, literary and performance arts and, within these, a wide variety of styles and genres.

The CMCA started some 13 years ago as a small art display program hosted out of the School of Architecture facility. Since then, and since moving the location in 2008 to the new city hall (and the square and streets surrounding it), the event has grown both in the variety of arts and artists featured and through the addition of extra art-related elements.

Currently, in addition to showcasing the juried works of both youth and adult artists, the Celebration joins with a small number of differing partners to provide some special art experiences for our audiences. For the last few years we have also included several child and family-centred activities which start in the late afternoon.

Admission to the event is free. However, we invite a selection of Cambridge restaurants to demonstrate their specialties by providing various foods and beverages for nominal costs.

The Cambridge Tour de Grand

An annual recreational bicycle event which was first held in 1998 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the formation of the City of Cambridge. The event was organized by Don Rope, members of the Cambridge Trails Advisory Committee and other volunteers. The turnout of over 500 cyclists on a rainy Sunday morning, to ride one of three routes, showed there was great interest by local cyclists in such an event. As a result, it was decided to hold the Cambridge Tour de Grand on an annual basis.

Street Art Festival

Watch art evolve from the bare streets in historic Cambridge (Galt) and riverbank walls, along the Grand River, into masterpieces of art! It’s where modern day ‘Madonnaris’ (Term for street chalk artists who ‘painted’ the streets or public squares for money, dating back to the 1600’s) and world class graffiti artists (also known as ‘writers’) take you on a visual journey from the blank canvas to enthralling works of art creating massive masterpieces of all genres!
