DASH

The food in this diet plan are centered around reduced sodium and foods high in calcium, magnesium and potassium. You will also fill your meals with large portions of fruits, vegetables, fish, poultry, nuts and low-fat dairy products. You will greatly minimize the amount you consume of red meat, sugary beverages and sweet treats.

Gluten-Free

You cannot walk through a supermarket without seeing gluten-free sections and labels in every aisle. Some people voluntarily choose to be gluten-free; whereas, other people are diagnosed with celiac disease and they cannot consume gluten without experiencing tremendous pain. The gluten-free diet is essentially the elimination of all barley, rye and wheat products. Today, you can find excellent alternatives in pasta, bread, pizza crust and sweet treats. People who go gluten-free swear that they have a clearer mind, more energy and feel significantly better overall.

Flexitarian

You might already follow a flexitarian diet and not even know it. Each year, more and more people make the switch to eating less meat and more plant-based dishes. This is a flexitarian diet. You aim to minimize your consumption of any meat or animal products and replace these items with plant-based foods. With the switch to flexitarian diets occuring in the masses, plant based meal delivery businesses have skyrocketed in popularity and success.

Keto

The ketosis diet, most commonly referred to as the keto diet, is the vast reduction of carbohydrates. You are to receive up to 80 percent of your calories from fat. You should receive 5 percent of your calories from carbohydrates, and the remaining calories should come from protein. It is important to note that the keto diet is only meant to be followed in the short term rather than followed as a long-term diet solution. And you will eliminate sugar. Many people lose a significant amount of weight during their four-week keto diet.

Paleo

The idea of the paleo diet is to consume foods and drinks that would have been in existence 10,000 years ago during the Paleolithic era. During this diet or lifestyle change, you will center your meals around fish, fruit, lean meats, nuts, seeds and vegetables. You will not be able to eat or have to limit the consumption of dairy products, grains, legumes, potatoes, refined sugar and salt. People swear they feel significantly better and lose weight after making the switch; however, the diet remains controversial.

Whole30

The concept behind the whole30 diet is to eliminate foods and beverages in your life that are potentially inflammatory. This includes alcohol, grains, baked goods, legumes, junk food, sugar and sweeteners. You can eat eggs, meat, seafood and veggies. This diet is said to help with more energy, better skin, improve sleep, less bloat and a balanced mind.

Just to reiterate, just because a diet works for someone does not mean it is the right diet for you. It is okay if you fail in a diet. Just pick yourself up and try a different one. The important thing is that you are eating right and exercising to maximize your health and quality of life.
