Keeping Your Finances in Good Health: MUST-ASK Questions for a Mortgage Broker
In the market for a new mortgage (or to renew your existing one)? Here are three questions you MUST ask before working with an independent mortgage broker!
Working with an independent mortgage broker get you access to more financing options than a single bank may to able to offer - but not all independent brokers are equally as experienced!
Kerry Mason of Taylor Made Mortgages of the Mortgage Source has 3 questions you MUST ask any independent mortgage broker BEFORE you start working with them!
How many lenders do you have access to?
The more lenders a broker works with the better - more lenders means more options, and the more options you have the better the likelihood of finding something that suits your own unique lifestyle and situation.
2) What is your specific mortgage expertise?
You want to make sure you are working with someone who has experience with situations similar to your own, and so will be able to help you with your specific needs. For example, some independent brokers don’t know enough about being self-employed to be able to assist a business owner properly.
3) Why did you choose to become a mortgage broker?
It’s not enough to like the paycheque - a great independent mortgage broker will have a passion for the real estate industry, and thrive off finding the perfect, unique deal for each of their customers. Don’t settle for someone who’s just there for the money!
