Word Association: Friday the 13th = Port Dover, Ontario
A Journey into Canada
It’s going to be cold, it being January. But folks locally have seen colder. Any way, that would not stop folks from near and not so near from converging on Port Dover, Ontario. After all, it is Friday, the 13th.
You see, any time it is Friday the 13th, there is a motorcycle rally in Port Dover. It is a tradition that dates back to 1981.
Its typical summer attendance exceeds 100,000 bikers.
This Friday the 13th is expected to be chilly (-4) and gusty. But folks still recall how a couple of years back in February, 2015, daytime high was only about -14°C with a low of -21°C. Moreover, they had 1-3 centimetres of snow and with wind gusts of 15km/h.
“It’ll be a busier than a normal Friday,” said Adam Veri of the Port Dover Board of Trade to the Simcoe Reformer. “We expect there will be some people – obviously the crowds won’t be as big (as summer months) – the roads won’t be closed or anything like that..."
For those who brave the elements, it is a lot of fun.
