Building a Trusting Relationship
As a Homeopathic and Reiki practitioner, I work with both physical and emotional symptoms and conditions, so it’s crucial to take the time to build trust with clients. Whether you are a medical or alternative practitioner are treating clients for symptoms that can be deep and personal. They’ll need to trust you enough to tell you about all of them. Otherwise there’s a risk of misdiagnosis or of missing a medical condition entirely.
Much like a doctor, it’s important that you take the time to thoroughly evaluate a patient at each visit before prescribing any treatment, even a holistic one.
Steps to Take
To work to build trust with your clients, you’ll need to do your best to follow these steps:
Avoid Talking About Yourself
To build trust with your clients as well as possible, avoid talking about yourself too much during the appointments. Instead, take the time to find out more about them, and remember it. This will help you to build a rapport with them over time. If you need to, jot down notes about each client so that you will be able to keep track of the little details about each client that are important to them. They may seem small to you, but the fact that you remember them will stand out in your client’s mind when they visit.
Another great thing to do with your holistic clients is to take the time to ask them questions. Ask them about their life, and the things that they are doing during the week. Ask them about the symptoms that they are experiencing, so that you’ll know which homeopathic remedies may work best for the symptoms that they’re living with. The more that you ask, the more you’ll know about what they are living with and the best treatment for it.
Offer Non Judgmental Support
As you work with a client, you’ll learn a great deal about them and their body. You’ll learn where they experience pain and hold stress, and why. You’ll learn about their likes and dislikes. As you go through this process and build trust, it’s crucial that you offer the client non judgmental support. Doing so will help them to feel comfortable in your care, so that they not only are happy with receiving treatment from you, but they’re willing to refer their friends to you, as well.
