Youth Hearing Loss on the Rise
Encourage your children to protect their hearing
20% of Canadians are thought to have a hearing loss. Many people are unaware of their hearing loss (See Chart #3 below). Adult males have more hearing loss than females and hearing loss is very prominent between the ages of 60-79 years of age (See chart #1 below). As many as 42% of Canadians age 16-79 report working in some sort of noise. A new study reports that childhood hearing loss is on the rise. The new study estimates that 8% of all children have hearing loss, found in here http://www.hear-it.org/nearly-8-canadian-youth-have-some-sort-hearing-loss. Please be sure to have your hearing check routinely and have your children watch their noise exposure and volume levels.
