Would You Eat Your Face Cream?

Do you have any idea what any of the ingredients do to your body once your skin absorbs the toxins?

Have you studied the ingredients in your face cream? If not, flip it over! You will most likely find ingredients that are carcinogenic, nervous system disruptors, and toxic to yourself and the environment.

We studied Olay Regenerist Luminous brightening & protecting lotion with sunscreen moisturizer.

Here is a list of the ingredients:

water, glycerin, niacinamide, tapioca starch, aluminum starch octenylsuccinate, acetyl glucosamine, dimethicone, stearyl alcohol, panthenol, cetyl alcohol, behenyl alcohol, tocopherol acetate, Olay Regenerist Ingedientscamellia sinensis leave extract, sodium PEG-7, olive oil carboxylate, hydroxyethyl acrylate/sodium acryloydimethyl taurate copolymer, benzyl alcohol, polyethylene, titanium dioxide, isohexadecane, methylparaben, nylon-12, dimethiconol, PEG-100 stearate, ethylparaben, allantoin, propylparaben, sodium ascorbyl phosphate, cetearyl glucoside, cetearyl alcohol, polysorbate 60, stearic acid, disodium EDTA, iodopropynyl butylcarbamate.

If you were able to read ANY of those ingredients, good for you! But do you have any idea what any of them do to your body once your skin absorbs the toxins almost instantly?

“U.S. researchers have found that one in eight of the 82,000 ingredients used in cosmetic and personal care products are hazardous industrial chemicals. This means that 10,500 industrial chemicals are used as cosmetic ingredients, many of which are carcinogens, pesticides, reproductive toxins, endocrine disruptors, plasticizers (chemicals that keep concrete soft), degreasers (used to get grime off auto parts) and surfactants (they reduce surface tension in water, like in paint and inks).1

And these go on our skin??! How is this even possible?

Take a look in your bathroom. The average woman uses between 10 and 20 toxic cosmetic products before she leaves the house every day. These can include:

Body Wash

Shaving Cream

Hair Serum

Hair gel/mousse

Hair Spray

Face Cream

Eye Cream

Body Moisturizer

Eye Liner

Eye Shadow

Lip Liner

Lip Gloss

And probably many more!

So when you add that chemical exposure up over time, you are exposed to a multitude of toxins that are contributing to your chemical overload and potential disease.

Make your own organic cosmetics!

You can find clean versions of all of these products that work just as well, if not better, than their toxic counterparts, at your local health food store. Or you can make your own products! Try this simple moisturizer that can be used on your face, hands and body! You can find all of these ingredients at your local health food store.

1/2 cup extra virgin, organic, raw coconut oil

1/2 cup sweet almond oil

1/4 cup natural beeswax

20 drops of your favourite essential oil

In a double boiler, allow the natural bees wax to become liquified. Add the coconut oil and almond oil, until it is all liquified and remove from heat. Add your essential oils and pour into small containers. Put in the fridge to harden and use liberally! It can be stored for months in the fridge.

Caution – if you are allergic to bees, or sensitive to bee pollen, etc, do not use the beeswax in your recipe. The cream might become liquified on hot days, but it will re-solidify when the temperature returns to normal. The beeswax helps to keep the cream solid in the heat and hold the moisture on your skin.
