You’ve Done Everything You Can Do. Now What?
It’s time to surrender. This doesn’t mean to give up. It simply means time to let go, step back and detach from the outcome.
We’ve all been in those situations before. We’ve struggled and persevered and given everything we can to a situation and just can’t seem to either get ahead, put the pieces back together or figure out a positive solution.
What can you do to finally find the solution?
It’s time to surrender.
This doesn’t mean to give up. It simply means time to let go, step back and detach from the outcome.
There are so many forces at work in the Universe that we can’t begin to know all of the connections and karmic ties that are floating around with us.
In many situations, if you are having an issue with a friend or close relationship and there are pieces that you just can’t manage, often times it is because there is a karmic piece that needs to be fulfilled and you won’t be able to get in the middle of that.
Other times, it is your opportunity to learn what you need to.
A Course in Miracles says that every situation is an opportunity for growth. Everything is a Spiritual lesson that is offered to you to bring you more awareness, consciousness and enlightenment in this lifetime.
Sometimes it’s difficult to be open to another growth opportunity, but if we are able to let in a bit of possibility, you may be pleasantly surprised at the outcome!
Speaking of outcomes, it’s time that we stop trying to control the outcome of every event, emotion and situation.
If we are able to transition to thinking about our lives as a whole lot of situations for growth that we just happen to move through (and yes, this is a pretty transformational thought process that takes time to adjust to), then we are able to have a more peaceful existence without such strain, anxiety and worry.
All stress and anxiety comes from projecting ourselves from this very moment into a place in the future that we are unsure of. If we are able to stay in this very moment here and now, there is no worry or tension because this is all we have and all we are.
When we start thinking about future events, and what may come of various parts of our lives, expectations, and possibilities, we are then back to trying to control the outcomes of various situations and this causes a terrible amount of stress.
For example, have you ever had any of these thoughts?
• Ohh, I need to get my oil changed in 500km. I have no time to schedule anything else in my life!
• We need to stop renting and buy a house. I don’t know how the market will be in 4 months. Maybe we should try to buy something now. But we don’t have enough for the down payment. I hope we can buy our dream home.
• I need to invite my in-laws for dinner this weekend. What will I serve for dinner? I have to clean the house. I need to go to the grocery store. I have to get the laundry done.
These are just the smaller day to day stresses that pop up, never mind the major life changing situations and traumas. But you get the idea. You can feel the anxiety beginning to creep into your mind and flood through your body at the thought of these situations.
Can we change our mindset? Surrender to a greater philosophy?
• Whenever my car needs service, I’ll find the time. Maybe my partner can take the car for me. It’s okay, I’ll deal with it when it comes up.
• I am perfectly happy and secure in our apartment. When the time comes to purchase our dream home, I know the perfect house will be waiting for us.
• I’m looking forward to spending time with family this weekend.
Just a simple mindset shift and you have surrendered the outcomes, and you can again begin to enjoy the present moment, by moving away from stress!
