2. Exercise – Regular exercise is essential to take care of your eyes. This is because exercise helps from diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure, all of which make your chances of getting glaucoma higher.

3. Wear Sunglasses – Not only are they crazy stylish, but they also serve a functional purpose, that is they save your eyes from sun exposure. Sun exposure is linked to cataract and macular degeneration. Sunglasses block and protect your eyes from ultraviolet sun rays.

4. Stop Smoking – Smoking has a direct effect on your eye health. They aid age-related hazards like macular degeneration and cataracts. Smoking is also potent enough to damage your optic nerve.

5. Manage Weight – Being overweight makes you susceptible to diabetes. And diabetes causes a disease called diabetic retinopathy. Make sure you look after what you eat and also exercise regularly.

6. Wear Protective Eyewear – Eye injuries are very common and to avoid having one, you need to wear some eye protection especially when playing a sport or getting your hands dirty while repairing something.

7. Give Your Eyes Rest – Spending a lot of time reading or staying in front of devices that emit blue light like your computer or smartphone can cause degeneration of eye cells. Try and have a small walk every 20 minutes after using your gadget.

8. Research About Your risks – You need to take care especially if you are ageing. As you get older, your eyesight gets affected and a number of risk factors need to be assessed to avoid complications in the future. Go for regular medical check-ups.

9. Beware Of Eye Infections – If you are around a person who has an eye infection, do not get close. Also, if you wear lenses, follow proper hygiene while wearing or removing them.
