Wicked Stryx Tae Kwon Do Studio
Offering training in the martial arts field of Tae Kwon Do, Wicked Stryx has classes for students aged three up to adult.
When Randy and Leah took over the space at 684 Belmont Ave it was setup for offices. They proceeded to do a massive renovation that transformed it into the beautiful athletic space that they now proudly call the home of the Wicked Stryx, Tae Kwon Do studio. Randy and Leah have both been practicing the art of Tae Kwon Do since they were four. They got their start teaching at a club to get volunteer hours but when Leah's club closed, that's when these cousins had the idea to open their own space.
Leah's background is in Kinesiology but on the mat she's a well respected 3rd degree Black Belt and received the King Of The Ring award. When we arrive, she's helping dress a young student. The room is full of warm, bright sunlight and youngster Cooper is full of energy and excited to start class. Leah tells us that in their upcoming session they will learn the basics of general martial arts athletics and motor skills. Tae Kwon Do is about discipline and creating well rounded athletes and the Wicked Warriors class accepts students as young as three years old.
Randy is an electrical apprentice and is a 1st degree black belt. He shows us some of the skills the older classes will practice including some moves on the sparring dummies. Class ages range from six to twelve and then from twelve up to any aged adult. They offer a free trial class to get you introduced into the exciting athletics of Tae Kwon Do and simply recommend contacting them beforehand to get some advice on workout clothing.
Classes are held after 5 p.m. on weekdays and starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday and if you're looking for an innovative birthday party solution they offer Birthday Party Packages that can include the full Tae Kwon Do experience of board breaking!
