Kim Vopni, Samantha Montpetit-Huynh, and Julia Di Paolo, are 3 moms on a mission!
They joined forces in 2011 to form Bellies Inc., a company dedicated to helping women prepare for and recover from pregnancy and birth better! On Mothers Day in 2015; they launched the AB system.
Let’s step back to how this came about:
Kim Vopni owner of Pelvienne Wellness, mother of two boys, and a fitness trainer; diagnosed herself with diastasis recti abdominis (DRA) after her second pregnancy and decided to specialize in pre/postnatal fitness to help other women prevent and treat pelvic floor dysfunction and DRA. Through extensive product testing and specialized training, Kim developed targeted exercise programs for new and expectant moms.
In 2009, Kim met Samantha Montpetit-Huynh and the two began to share strategies and explore ways to reach more women.
Samantha Montpetit-Huynh is a certified pre and postnatal exercise specialist and the mother of 2 girls. She created the successful ‘ab rehab’ program for the treatment of DRA which has helped hundreds of clients. Recognizing a void in the availability of quality information and products related to DRA, Samantha and Kim began researching abdominal support garments and treatment strategies which connected them to physiotherapist Julia Di Paolo.
Julia Di Paolo is a Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist with a special interest in women’s health, spine and sports injuries. She is the mother of 2 boys and has been treating pre and postnatal clients with DRA for several years. During her own pregnancies she was determined not to lose her core function and avoided getting a diastasis of her abdominal muscles using an exercise program she created based on learnings from multiple influences. After meeting with Samantha and Kim and realizing shared passions, a plan was hatched, and Bellies Inc was born.

Belly wrapping plays a role in

Mother Roasting also known as Mother Warming, involves warm, nourishing foods such as soups and broths, belly wrapping, gentle massages with heat and warming balms, and ample support so the new mother can rest and recover. The early postpartum period is a time use heat, food and wrapping to ‘close’ the body and seal up the emotional, spiritual and physical gateways that have been opened for birth. It is a time to protect the mother from cold or ‘wind’ and support her as she replenishes her ‘Chi’ or vital life force.
At Bellies Inc, we invite you to consider the tradition of mother roasting that is embraced in many cultures around the globe such as China, Japan, Mexico, Malaysia and Indonesia. Honour the need to recover, to rest, to replenish and to restore. What you do in the first 40 days postpartum will set you up for the next 40 years so recover with intention.
We recommend that the Ab System be purchased while you are still pregnant so you can start the Core Confidence program and have the Ab Tank and Wrap to put on immediately postpartum in order to take advantage of the most critical healing time for diastasis recti – the first 8 weeks postpartum.
