Department of Kinesiology
Laurier needs your help! Learn about our health and wellness research and how it can make a difference in your life.
One problem with research is that it rarely gets into the hands of those who need it most. The graduate students in the Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education at Wilfrid Laurier University are doing research about health and wellness that we would like to share with our community. We will use this page to share our research findings with those who will benefit, including families and professionals in the Region of Waterloo. Our goal is to share up to date findings and practical ways that you can incorporate this knowledge into your day to day activities.
Keep an eye out for regular posts about exercise, nutrition, psychology, ergonomics, behaviour change, and sport that all contribute to a physically active life-style and increase quality of life. This information pertains to all people, as well as specific populations, such as coaches, caregivers, seniors, children with developmental disorders, and more. We will also share opportunities for community members to get involved, either through participating in research or sharing this information with those who could use it.
A current outreach program in our department is the Sun Life Financial Centre for Physically Active Communities, or CPAC. The goal of CPAC is to reduce health concerns that are related to an inactive lifestyle, such as diabetes. Currently, CPAC is supporting the community through transportation to camps, before and after school activities, and funding accessible programs. CPAC would like your feedback about physical activity and sport so it can better support your needs. You can find the survey here: CPAC Survey.
