Story of Haunted Nahargarh: - A popular folk lore is that of a spirit haunting the fort of Nahargarh, when the construction of the fort was started by the Maharaja Sawai jai singh in 1734 the construction process was halted by a spirit. The spirit was pacified and a temple was build in the name of the deceased. The fort was also named in the name of the spirit haunting the Nahargarh fort. Thus the construction process resumed and was subsequently completed.
The name fort suggests the utility of the architecture this fort was made primarily as a defence structure, basic motive was to provide a safe refuge to the royalty in case of adverse threat. Though in reality never such situation arose and it was never used for the same but it provided safe haven to the Europeans who took refuge in Nahargarh while the flames of the 1857 revolt enraged India.
In nineteenth century the then Maharaj Sawai Ram Singh built a series of grand palaces, this array of palaces had suites for the king and his better half the queen of Jaipur. Nahargarh is surrounded by dense foliage, this fort was also a favorite hunting residence of the royalty of Jaipur. Even now wild animals are abundant in this jungle. Entrances of Nahargarh Fort Jaipur : - INR 50 is levied on the Indian tourists while foreign tourists are charged 200 INR the children are charged at 20 INR and 50 INR respectively.
Nahargarh wax museum : - Very recently a wax museum has been inaugurated at the Nahargarh fort making it the first to be opened in a heritage site. The wax museum displays wax effigiesof 30 iconic personalities these include the erstwhile Maharajas of Jaipur royalty, some very famous Indian personalities such as Amitabh bachhan and sachin tendulkar , Bhagat singh. International pop star Michael Jackson also makes an appearance at the wax museum. The style icon Maharani Gayatri Devi of Jaipur and the founder of Jaipur city Sawai Maharaj Jai Singh II stand tall in the wax museum.
