Aftercare tips to give you the results that are right for you!
- No touching for 4 hours
- Avoid strenuous activity for at least 24 hours.
- Don’t put pressure on the affected area for 1 to 3 days.
- No alcohol for 24 hours.
- Avoid any other cosmetic procedures on the affected area for 24 hours.
- Don’t expose the affected area to the sun for at least 48 hours.
- Ask your practitioner if you should follow any additional guidelines.
No touching or rubbing the area that was injected for the next four hours. Avoid any exercise or lying down/sleeping as well for the next four hours. Exercise the muscles by making expressions for the next 30 minutes after the treatment.
Avoid strenuous activity for at least 24 hours.
You want to give your Botox® treatment enough time to work. Strenuous activity, and exercise like heavy lifting, can cause the Botox to spread to unintended areas, which reduces the benefits you’ll get in the intended area. In about 4 hours you can engage in light activities but wait 24 hours before you go back to your normal exercise routine.
Don’t put pressure on the affected area for 1 to 3 days.
Leave the affected area alone as much as possible for 1 to 3 days after your treatment. Avoid massages, as well as tight clothing or headwear, which might risk dislodging the injections. If you can manage it, try not to sleep on the affected areas, either.
No alcohol for 24 hours.
Alcohol has an anti-inflammatory effect, which thins your blood and can lead to bruising around the affected areas. Alcohol can also cause dehydration in the skin. So we suggest you give it 24 hours after Botox before you drink alcohol again.
Avoid any other cosmetic procedures on the affected area for 24 hours.
Skin treatments that target the same areas as your Botox can shift the injections before they set into your muscles. You should try to avoid facials, exfoliating scrubs, and similar procedures for at least 24 hours.
Don’t expose the affected area to the sun for at least 48 hours.
Direct sunlight raises your blood pressure and flushes your skin. This can cause bruising around your injected area. Try to stay out of the direct sun for 48 hours after your procedure. The same goes for tanning beds, saunas, hot tubs, and overly hot baths.
Ask your practitioner if you should follow any additional guidelines.
It is always a good idea to talk with your practitioner about additional guidelines you should be following.
