We have small children, what is reliable carpet?
While most carpet styles will provide the resilience you need, we do have two recommendations:
Textured Saxony - The surface helps conceal footprints, works in any room, has got a great casual appearance, and provides plenty of durability for active families.
Cut and Loop - The smaller loops combined with the slightly higher cuts provide a distinctive carved appearance and the multi-color surface helps conceal stains and traffic patterns.
What can I do about static?
When a room has low relative humidity, a static charge can build up in your carpet as you walk across it. Try to not scuff your feet and a humidifier or other commercially available products can help.
Can I save money by buying a less expensive carpet and putting the best under pad under it?
It is true that a good under pad is critical to carpet performance, but the carpet takes the direct wear and tear so you want carpet constructed to meet your needs and lifestyle.
If I know the weight or other technical specifications, can I compare products?
Using technical specifications of a product can give you a guide, but there are many other factors that can alter the comparison. For example, two carpets with the same specifications but made with different fibers will perform, look, and feel differently in the same environment.
Why do some carpet cleaners charge by the room and others by the square foot?
Charging by the Square Foot requires the technician to measure the carpet to be cleaned. This is necessary to determine the exact price but it also allows the consumer to only pay for the areas needing to be cleaned. So, if for instance the consumer only wants the high traffic areas cleaned, they won't have to pay for the whole room.
Will removing my carpet reduce my allergic symptoms?
Removing carpet will not reduce the number of airborne allergens that produce allergic reactions; in fact, removal of carpet may actually increase the amount of airborne allergen, because other surfaces do not offer the capability of holding allergen. Removing allergen materials from a carpet is as easy as regular vacuuming and routine cleaning.
