Excuses are Strong; You Are Stronger

Create a positive approach to your fitness goals by realizing the benefit, both physically and mentally, and allow yourself the chance to achieve your goal.

You’ve committed to adopting a healthier lifestyle in 2020. Congratulations! As the days roll on and life gets busy, you may start to waver in your commitment. When this happens, realize excuses are strong; you are stronger.

Don’t Let Your Excuses Win

To achieve your goals, chunk them down into small digestible pieces. Create goals that you can complete within your work-out session, or within a week. With small achievable goals, the excuses have less of a chance of grabbing hold as you will be consistently hitting your milestones.

Motivate with Kindness

As life gets busy, you may have the following thoughts:

• I’m tired

• I’ll go tomorrow

• Skipping one day won’t make a difference

• I don’t want to work out today

• I have so much to do

• I have an event to attend

The only person who loses when you give into these popular excuses, is you. Combat these excuses with positivity and respect for your personal fitness goals. Speak to yourself with kindness and determination:

• I deserve this time for myself

• I’m part of a supportive community

• My health is my priority

• A healthy body leads to a healthy mind

• I deserve to take a break

• I’ll feel so much better after my workout

• My workout gives me the energy to tackle the day/week

• I love myself enough to take care of myself

Create a positive approach to your fitness goals by realizing the benefit, both physically and mentally, and allow yourself the chance to achieve your goal. If you fall off, don’t beat yourself up, get back to it the next day.

Community and Commitment

We are not perfect; there will always be days that are harder than others and days when you want to quit altogether. To stay focused, find a community that supports you through those hard days.

Belonging to a community with a common goal will give you purpose and accountability. A sense of belonging adds joy to your workouts – you may even look forward to going!
