We are fighting battles, some silent, and some obnoxiously loud. Most things in these uncertain times are out of our control, but one thing we can control right now is how we treat our bodies.

As we navigate the next few months, it is my view that fitness is our best antidepressant.

A strong body will translate to a strong mind.

As difficult as it may be, it is imperative to be your own cheerleader when it comes to your fitness routine, sleep routine, and the food you are using to fuel your body and mind. One thing we can be thankful for in these uncertain times is our health. If you have your health, take the time to nurture your body, mind and be proud of the steps you are taking to make your body strong. You have a choice to make – you can either bury yourself in bad decisions, bad moods, bad diets, or you can take control of your health and follow a routine that will make you feel productive, accomplished and full of energy.

Taking care of your mental health is paramount during these times.

Take one small step every day to build your strength, and it will go a long way to helping you make healthy choices in all areas of your life. Fitness is one easy way to monitor and strengthen your mental health from the comfort of your living room or backyard. Gift yourself 20 minutes a day to focus and breathe, do the activities your body is allowing you to do that day. When you are done, you will feel so much better.

The most important thing you can do is take the first step toward body and mind health. You don’t have to be perfect or follow every step - all you have to do is show up. Use virtual tools to find the workout that works best for you. Give yourself the chance to thrive by joining a team that will inspire, support and, encourage you to do your very best every day, whatever that looks like.
