Hometown Eats "On the Road"

In an effort to turn "back to basics", folks have started to look in new directions. One is the ascent of the "Farm to Table" movement that encourages foods and products grown and cooked locally.

Another is the popularity of Food Trucks.

Locally, Food Truck Tuesdays have become popular. Presented by the City of Palm Coast on the third Tuesday of every month at Central Park in Town Center, they started on May 17th and will end on November 15th.

Featured are a variety of food trucks - mobile kitchens, canteens and catering trucks that offer up appetizers, main dishes, side dishes and desserts.

Foods to be featured change monthly but "Regional Foods" are especially highlighted.

Other offerings have included lobster rolls, Portuguese cuisine, fish and chips, regional American, Latin food, ice cream, barbecue and much more. Many menus are kid-friendly.

Best of all, in addition to some good tasting foods, all proceeds from each Food Truck Tuesday event benefits a local charity.
