A New Glimpse at Hockey Night in Canada, 1960's Style

A Journey into Hockey
Well, with the NHL's "Heritage Classic" behind us, we are glad to discover this newly posted video.
It is of a CBC broadcast of a 1969 NHL regular season game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Montreal Canadiens, interestingly the first regular season game between the clubs ever played on a Saturday night.
The game is being played at the Montreal Forum. Danny Gallivan handles the play-by-play. Dick Irvin at his side. The analyst is Dickie Moore.
The game was one of the first in the post-Imlach period. Marv Edwards is in goal for Toronto; Rogatien Vachon for Canadiens. Bob Ashley is the referee.
The game is divided into two videoes. Video two will be posted shortly.
What a great time capsule - it was on Johnny Bowers "45th" birthday - Dick Irvin relays how NHL statistician Ron Andrews mentioned that Bower was the first player ever able to collect an NHL pension while still an active player.
What a time capsule.
Many thanks to "Newton Minnow" for posting.
