 Hackensack’s Skyscraper Refashioned

Journeys into Hackensack

There are so many new spots in Hackensack that it is sometimes hard to keep up with it all. Many are new developments, but some are older buildings being refashioned.

One such project is that at 210 Main Street.

It is being touted as a “lifestyle destination” featuring not just apartments but also an attended lobby, game lounge, fitness center, bike room, barbecue and dining areas and more.

That location has long been a focal point in Hackensack and in Bergen County.

It was the longtime area headquarters for People’s Trust Bank, which later became United Jersey Bank, and the SummitBank and more recently was bought by the Bank of America.

AT one time it was considered to be Hackensack’s skyscraper and the tallest building in Bergen County.

Here is a bit on the excitement at the time of its opening in 1927.

Now almost a century later some are hoping new excitement can be generated.

For now, it is interesting to compare and contrast the grand old building at 210 Main then and now.
