What are the Benefits of Meditation?

"Meditation is a habitual process of training your mind to focus and redirect your thoughts."

When you have a lot of stress in your life or you experience a lot of anxiety, meditation is another method you can use that has been shown to be very effective in reducing the negative effects associated with both.

There are also a lot of other benefits attributed to meditation.  This article here, written by  Matthew Thorpe, MD, PhD, speaks to 12 benefits based in science.

And meditation really is a simple process.  Not easy, but simple.  Many people believe that you MUST clear your mind completely.  My point of view is that is easier said than done.  When you are first starting to learn meditation, you will find that thoughts will constantly be coming to you, and the harder you try to clear your mind the more thoughts show up.  Don't fight it, let the thoughts come.  The trick is not to latch on to them.  Acknowledge them and let them go and float off in to the ether.

One of the goals of meditation is to slow down your brainwaves and this helps you to connect with 'source' and allow inspiration to come to you.  When I first started meditating I started with the Zen12 program.  It allows and helps you train your brain in stages with the audios that they have.  I bought the program about 2 years ago and I love it!  Another really cool thing about Zen12 is that all the audios are 12 minutes on average and have the same benefits of meditating for an hour.  (Click this link to access Zen12 and get a sample audio.)

YouTube is another great resource (that is free) where you can find a lot of different practitioners that have recorded guided meditations for you to follow along with.  These are good for the novice meditators.

With all the self-isolation we are practicing with the Covid-19 pandemic, this is the perfect time to practice and develop the habit of meditating.

Be well everyone.
