How to Get a Cheap Flight To Orlando

  • While planning flights for your Walt Disney World vacation, you first need to find out which airport to fly to at Orlando International Airport (MCO) or Orlando Sanford International (SFB).
  • First 'flight hack' we've seen others share to check Sanford for cheap flights. For us, it is a completely and totally a waste of time... Instead, look exclusively at Orlando International Airport (MCO) when making your plans.
  • When you return to the MCO after your Walt Disney World vacation, it is a completely different story. All airports coming into the world, Orlando International is consistently the worst when it comes to the guest experience. We usually arrive at an airport half an hour before our flight. With MCO, there is a safe route to go for ~ 2 hours (a little more if you need to do a bag check).
  • You can find a cheap flight to Orlando if you book directly from either airline - which we usually do - or through another third-party site. Our favorite booking site is Flightinfodesk. Their "Best Price Guarantee" is good, and in practice, it also saves me money.
  • If you are still in the early stages of planning, another tip for finding cheap flights is to fly on weekdays. Monday is almost always cheaper than flights during weekends.
  • If you want completely free airfare, there are a few ways to accomplish this. The easiest, fastest method of free airfare is a credit card sign-up bonus. We cover our favorite choices in this regard in our Best Credit Card for Disney Travel Post. Over the past several years, we have taken advantage of sign-up bonuses with Southwest, United, Delta, and Chase credit cards to secure ~ 20 free flights.
  • Instead, look for the best flight prices, the most favorable flight times, or the airlines you prefer to fly the most. If you are traveling in winter or other times when weather may be an issue, we would strongly recommend favoring direct flights.
  • For airlines, in particular, the one we recommend most often is Southwest. Southwest has maintained its edge by offering superior customer service and family-friendly facilities. Of course, there is also the "Bag Fly Free" moniker that they use, but this is actually one of the many reasons to fly Southwest.

It is about the basics of choosing the best flights to Walt Disney World and finding the cheapest prices on those flights. As with all travel hacks, here everything is not hard and fast rules, but if you follow general advice, you'll be able to save one of the most expensive aspects of your Walt Disney World vacation needed!
