How To Develop A Breathing Routine?
If you’re extremely busy and have a very tight daily schedule, you might think that it would be difficult to take out time for breathing exercises. Rest assured, that’s not the case. Instead breathing exercises are easy and do not take a lot of extra time or effort. Understand all the benefits that are associated with breathing exercises.
Here are some ways you can incorporate breathing exercises into your daily schedule:
● Start with baby steps – 2 minutes per session.
● Keep practicing and then gradually increase to 5 minutes, 10 minutes, and so on.
● Try and practice more than twice daily.
1. Puckered lip breathing – Simply close your mouth and inhale slowly from your nose for 5 counts. Keep your neck and shoulders relaxed and then exhale slowly by blowing air through your puckered lips as if you were about to whistle. Don’t whistle though!
2. Breathe using the Diaphragm – Lie on your back. Inhale through your nose and exhale through pursed lips. Also, try and inhale the air into your stomach.
3. Focused breathing technique. Mostly used to alleviate stress, this technique involves imagery or special words that spike up your happiness levels. Focus on deep breathing and try and repeat the words that make you feel happy and relaxed. This is also good when coupled with mediation.
4. Breathing using alternate nostrils – This practice involves sitting in a relaxed position and inhaling through one nostril and exhaling from the other. After 5 counts reverse the pattern.
5. Equal Inhalation and exhalation – This practice is an ancient yogic practice that involves inhaling and exhaling for the same amount of time. Keep count during inhaling and also exhale within the same count.
6. Deep Breathing – One of the easiest breathing exercises that involve breathing deeply and slowly. This allows you to breathe and trap more fresh air in your lungs.
