Tips from Sara on Skin and Hair Care
Sara is an Esthetician and new mom at Water Edge Spa & Salon with the Best Esthetician/Makeup: GOLD AWARD!
I thought I would write a little something about what I noticed while on maternity leave on how my beauty routine changed. For all you fellow mothers out there, I am sure you can relate when I say that I became too exhausted to care about how I looked. Well, once I got the swing of being a mom, my skin was tired and dry, my hair was yellow and dull.
Here’s how I fixed it.
I had stopped taking care of two of the things I used to the most before Leo, skin and hair. Well, I found my new favourite routine and I think this will work for all the moms, busy ladies, or low maintenance lassies.
Let’s talk hair!
I found myself not being able to go get my hair done very often so I used two products I had never tried before my mat leave. The first product I fell in love with was the Davines Alchemic purple conditioner. I don’t know about you, but having a shower turned into a spa oasis to myself. That’s where I would take my time, even if Leo had to be in the bathroom with me. This conditioner brought back my blonde to look bright and fresh vs yellowish and dull. One of the best feelings is not only feeling fresh but looking fresh.
Before I dried my hair I would put 3 pumps of Davines beauty oil in my hair and O-M-G the smell of this is to die for. THIS is what made my hair not only shiny but smell like I just went to the salon. It was such a luxurious step that I never skipped. It made me feel wonderful because it was such a small step but it felt like I was treating myself and doing something for me.
Now on to my skin.
Before baby, I would do every step available to take care of my skin, I’m getting back to that slowly not, but by the end of the day, I was too tired to care. I began to hate how my skin was looking and feeling. I started using a new product by Dermalogica called Sound Sleep Cocoon. Wow. The first time I used this, I was confused about the gel to water texture it had. Then when I woke up my skin was so dewy! I haven’t stopped using it since. When I finished nursing, I couldn’t get back to my Overnight Retinol Repair fast enough. This cream not only was a past favourite but even better as a tired mom doing two things at once. This would hydrate and exfoliate helping bring back the glow to my skin while slowing down premature aging (which is attracted by no sleep and stress).
That’s it, these 4 steps made me so happy in little ways. Try to find those little things that make you happy, the small steps are worth it!
I look forward to seeing you all at Waters Edge Salon Spa
