Microblading: Is the Beauty World’s Hottest Trend Right for You?

Eyebrows might just be our most important facial feature. A beautiful set of brows can frame your entire face and direct all the attention exactly where you wan

Microblading

If you’re guilty of over-tweezing, have a naturally uneven set, or have been through some hormonal changes, medical treatments, or on certain medications—you may be considering your options for putting down the brow pencils and calling in a brow embroidery expert.

The term “microblading” has been around the beauty industry for years, but it’s only recently become a mainstream topic.

Many people still don’t know what it’s all about - and it sounds a little scary. What exactly happens when you get microbladed? Is it different from getting eyebrow tattoos? And how much does it cost?

Microblading is technically a semi-permanent type of tattoo, but it’s very different from what you might have in mind..

The difference between an eyebrow tattoo and microblading?

That’s the number one question we always get,” Brow embroidery expert Olivia explains that an eyebrow tattoo is a permanent procedure, which uses a machine and several needles to penetrate pigment deep into the skin making it last a life time.

Microblading, on the other hand, involves using a hand tool with tiny needles to create shallower cuts on the skin and then letting pigment seep in. Microblading only lasts one to three years depending on your skin’s pigment retention, your following aftercare instructions, and your facial home care routine.

The results are made to look super natural.

Microblading - Natural Looking

Whereas a permanent makeup eyebrow tattoo is a thick, unnatural-looking and fades to sometimes bluish pigment,” explains Olivia, “with a microblading needle we have much more control over what we’re doing.” The end result, she says, “if done correctly, is crisp like strokes that look just you’re your natural eyebrow hair.”

The Appointment

Give yourself extra time for the appointment to ensure the best results.

A typical appointment is around two and a half hours, but the actual microblading only happens in the last 30-45 minutes. Before taking any needle to the area, a lot of measurements are taken. Just measuring and perfecting the look can take up to an hour! After that, it takes 30 minutes for the numbing cream to sit — and you don’t want to skimp on that part of the process if you want a painless procedure.

Aftercare

For the best results, aftercare is key. The first couple of days are the most important because the incisions are still open. Until they start to heal, you want to make sure you’re not getting the brows wet or soaking them. So, don’t do it if you’re leaving the next day to go on a tropical vacation or running a marathon!

There is some discomfort to the procedure, keeping in mind that everyone’s pain tolerance is slightly different. It’s good to anticipate some pain, and most professionals use a numbing cream that works best with their pigments and for the client’s comfort level.

While we charge $600.00 for the initial appointment, plus a free touch-up at around four to six weeks, prices across the country can range from $300 to $1600.

If you’re tired of filling in your brows every day, but you want the freedom to be able to change your look every few years, microblading might be the perfect investment for you.

And there’s a bonus:

After getting your eyebrows microbladed, you may find yourself putting all your makeup brushes down. Clients with fierce eyebrows often don’t feel the need to wear much additional makeup at all, especially if you’ve paired your brows with eyelash extensions! Say good bye to brow pencils and mascara, wake up with your brows and lashes still making the right statement!
