When we are on a fertility journey we aren't always able to eat our favourite pumpkin spiced latte the way we like it. Here are some alternatives.

The leaves are changing into beautiful shades of reds and oranges and the weather is cooling. If you’re a lover of all things fall and food, then you’ve come to the right place!

The foods you eat can play a big role in your fertility.

While trying to conceive getting the right nutrients into your body as well as eating foods that won't cause inflammation is going to boost your fertility journey in so many ways.

A question I get asked so much is,

We’ve rounded up a list of 10 fantastic fall fertility foods that can help YOU on your fertility journey! These are a list that will help both the woman and the man more fertile.

1. Pumpkins

‘Tis the season for pumpkins and fertility!

Pumpkins are rich in complex carbs and fibers, which is really good to balance hormones. It is packed full of beta carotene which has been shown to stimulate natural progesterone, and is a powerful antioxidant to protect our eggs.

I am always telling the couples I work with, to eat your pumpkin seeds. I call them a fertility super food, full of zinc and so much more goodness that they can do to the reproductive system and sperm health.

Here comes another fertility super food. Pomegranates are full of antioxidants, Vitamin C, Vitamin K, and folate. They can increase your blood flow to the uterus, therefore promoting healthy lining for implantation. Not only this, but they’re known to improve sperm quality. The best part is, they are so delicious!

Pomegranates can be eaten alone, but also make for a great topping in your fertility recipes, like chia pudding, overnight oats, quinoa bowls, and salads!

3. Squash

Squash and fall go hand in hand! The are a fertility friendly food that is highly rich in fiber and beta carotene. You remember what we said above about beta carotene right! It's extra amazing for my PCOS girls that are craving carbs. Let's get those antioxidants into our bodies to boost our fertility.

Squash is a hormone balancing vegetable can also improve egg and sperm health by protecting them against free radical damage. So don't just make these at Thanksgiving, add them into your fertility diet regularly.

We are still human even though we are on a fertility journey, personally, I think that makes us super human. You will often see don't eat carbs or potatoes, while on your fertility diet, but the good news is, there is a sweet alternative. Sweet potatoes are perfect to give you the satisfaction you may be craving for carbs, while giving you a huge does of nutrients to support your body on your fertility. Sweet potatoes contain high levels of Vitamin C, A, B-complex, iron, beta-carotene, and calcium, which can help improve your reproductive performance. I think it's safe to call this one a fertility super food that we love!

Sprinkle them on your salad or toss them in your smoothie.

Ok, I will agree, Brussel Sprouts are not everyone's favourite. You either love them or hate them. They are good for both partners to eat at they have huge benefits on sperm. They also help in reducing excessive estrogen in your body. Now lets talk about how much folic acid they have, the vitamins C and K that all help with blood flow.

Swiss Chard is a fall classic and one of those special vegetables that contain so much Vitamin K and A that you are getting your recommended dose plus plus plus. It also is rich in folate, calcium, and iron.

It's not eveyone's favourite vegetable, so we will be putting together some recipes for you to start adding it in your diet.

10. Cauliflower

So many things you can do with Cauliflower, even turn it into Pizza!

Did you know that cauliflower can metabolize your estrogen levels? In addition, this veggie improves egg health and quality, with it's long list of power nutrients, like omega-3, fibre, magnesium, Vitamin C, K, and B6.

So if you haven't jumped on the cauliflower rice wagon, now is your time.
