3 Reasons You Should be Drinking FRESH Juices
Ever wondered what the differences between a fresh pressed juice and the one sitting on a shelf at your local coffee shop are? We break it down here!
There is a lot of science behind the benefits of juicing - and the differences between fresh pressed and preserved juices. Here are the top three reasons you should be drinking fresh pressed juices!
1) Nutrients Naturally Breakdown Over Time
The moment you cut into a fruit or vegetable (or any plant for that matter) the oxygen in the air starts to breakdown the vitamins, minerals, and all the nutrients in them - so the longer you wait to drink a juice, the fewer nutrients and benefits you’re actually getting from it.
2) Not All Preservation is Equal
The best way to store a fresh pressed juice and naturally preserve the nutrients is to cryogenically preserve it - by cooling it to an optimal temperature IMMEDIATELY after juicing to dramatically reduce the breakdown of nutrients.
However, if you look at the label on most store-bought juices, the date it was made is usually at more than 3 days away from today's date- meaning the manufacturer has altered the juice in some way.
The most common ways this is done is by adding preservatives (some of which are toxic and all of which breakdown nutrients), pasteurizing the juice, high-pressure processing, or using UV light. But while these methods will ensure the juice doesn’t go "bad", these methods kill live beneficial enzymes and breakdown nutrients - all the benefits of juicing in the first place…
3) Good Bacteria vs Bad Bacteria
When preservatives are added, pasteurizing, high-pressure processing or UV light processing occurs, they break down all of the bacteria in the juice in order to keep it ‘fresher’ longer. The problem is these methods don’t differentiate between good and bad bacteria.
Good bacteria are essential to our overall health and live naturally in our bodies to help your digestive system more efficient. When these preservation processes remove all bacteria and all nutrients, the benefits of the juice have all been removed too!

Juicing is not for everyone. Check with your healthcare provider first, especially people who are pregnant, underweight, diabetic, have unstable heart disease or low blood pressure, or who have life-threatening health challenges.
